Description
Ancient bronze coin struck at Amisos in Pontus during the reign of Mithradates VI Eupator (circa 85–65 BC), one of the most powerful rulers of the Hellenistic world and a formidable opponent of Rome during the Mithridatic Wars.
Obverse
Helmeted head of Perseus facing right.
The mythological hero Perseus appears wearing a crested helmet, reflecting the heroic imagery favored in the coinage of Mithradates VI, who often associated himself with legendary Greek figures.
Reverse
Pegasos grazing left, with two monograms in the exergue.
The winged horse Pegasos, a powerful symbol in Greek mythology, appears calmly grazing. The type reflects the Hellenistic artistic tradition that remained influential in the Black Sea region during the late Hellenistic period.

Later Mounting
The coin was later incorporated into a modern jewelry setting.
The bezel was produced using 3D wax printing followed by the lost-wax casting process, with electroplated metal over a copper base.
This mounting is modern and non-precious, and can be removed if desired.

Mithradates VI ruled the Kingdom of Pontus during the late Hellenistic period and became famous for his long struggle against Roman expansion.
