Description
This authentic Byzantine bronze cross dates to approximately the 8th–10th century AD, a period of deep spiritual symbolism and artistic transformation within the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire.
The cross features a refined, balanced form with slightly flared arms and a pronounced central boss. The raised central rosette-like design adds depth and visual strength, symbolizing divine protection and sacred harmony. The suspension loop remains intact, confirming its original use as a devotional pendant.
The surface displays a beautiful dark green patina, formed naturally over centuries. This patina not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also serves as a testament to its authenticity and age.
Unlike later mass-produced crosses, early Byzantine devotional pieces were often individually cast and finished, making each example unique in subtle detail and character.
