ANCIENT BYZANTINE EMPIRE BRONZE CROSS (8th–10th Century) – AE
A genuine Byzantine bronze devotional cross dating to the Middle Byzantine period (8th–10th century AD).
The cross features rounded terminals with raised circular bosses and a central decorative element. The design reflects the characteristic stylized forms typical of personal devotional crosses of the era. The reverse is plain, showing natural aging and a stable dark green and brown patina consistent with its antiquity.
Unfortunately, the suspension loop is broken. For this reason, the piece can no longer be worn as a pendant and should be considered a collectible devotional artifact rather than wearable jewelry.
The surface shows attractive ancient patina and minor encrustations, fully consistent with age. Despite the break to the loop, the body of the cross remains solid and structurally stable.
